Clifden Ridden Classes, A Look in. Class Results at www.cpbs.ie For Clifden Day 2 Report and Pics Click Here

Entries in all of the 9 Ridden Classes on Thursday were remarkably good considering that there were Classes for every age and category of pony and I would like to have had more time to watch them. Bits and pieces I have got so I hope you will excuse. The 4-5 yr. Class was especially promising as it was a Class with 15 ponies and these young animals, all novices, gave a really good account of themselves.

Oughterard owners Francis and Katherine Ryan happily saw their 4yr.old Festy Jane (Ashfield Festy – Shannon Star) taking the top prize under the capable riding of Elaine Creaven.

Another young 4yr. old mare won the Class for riders 16 – 21. This was Marjorie Hardiman’s Prospect Suzy (Tulira Roebuck – Justice Pet), at only her second show, with Shauna Finneran in the saddle.

The formidable Mr.What (Village King – Meadow Harp) won his Class for 6 – 8 yr. old ponies and was later to be the choice of Judges Joan Geoghegan and Kieran Guinness who awarded him the Ridden Championship.

The ridden stallion Class went to Padraig Flanagan and Young Walt (Castlestrang Fionn – Dangan Suzy)). This pair, the RDS Junior Performance Hunter Champions at the recent RDS Show, had a good innings at Clifden also as they again went home with a bagful of rosettes and Trophies, coming Reserve to Mr. What in the ridden Championship and being placed in the stallion’s W.H. Class. Coming 2nd in the stallion ridden Class was Peter Kyne’s Newtown Pedro (Fredericksminde Hazy ) Match – Cloonisle Heather) ridden by Brenda Shortt. Pedro was snapped pulling a gig in Friday’s Driving display, a versatile young stallion.

The winner of class E, for riders aged 10-16, was Lisa Hockley’s White Star (Westside Mirah – Sheva Justice), a striking Black Beauty ridden by Jenny Lindsey. No Ridden picture I’m afraid but a W.H. Class picture only, taken when this pair competed on Friday. 2nd in this under 16 Ridden Class was the English visiting pony Delmrose Applejack (Village Canal Beau – Riversdale Rioja) ridden by Chloe Eshelby.

Class G, for riders aged 21 and over, was won by Yorkshire lady Katherine Wilkinson riding her Delmrose Applejack This pony, gaining the Red rosette this time round was having a great Clifden and I missed it, mea culpa, having moved back to Ring One. I have only just caught up now and, have his picture with Chloe Eshelby on the right.
